I've now had my Capri for just over one month (June 2nd). Started with oil/filter change, since it looked like old oil had 10K Miles or more, and was black. Replaced trunk lift struts. Next was examination of dropped shifter and linkage. Linkage had been "fixed" with long sheet metal screw which had pulled out of the top plate. Replace screw with nut/bolt/washer/Loktite combination. Installed new bushings in shifter linkage. Noticed grease leaking out of passenger side CV boot, which was torn. Replaced axle, but found that tie rod ends and ball joints had torn boots, so I replaced those. Set preliminary alignment using tape measure and saw guide on Sat July 1st, but was concerned over tie rod ends being different lengths. Steering wheel was off by some 80 degrees counterclockwise. Driver side tie rod end was almost all out, while passenger side was almost all in. Had alignment done yesterday. Car seems to want to wander a bit, so I'll road test some more. Today was supposed to be a trip to a friend's lakeside house for 4th of July Party, provided the rain holds off. My body is cut and bruised from fighting rusty nuts and bolts, so a day of rest is in order. Was glad to have the Capri buttoned up, since the flex plate on my Focus broke on Friday night (June 30th), and it will be out of commission for a while.
