Is your CEL on? You can pull codes by jumping the diag connector under the hood. I don't know of an diagnostic tools that'll work with the capri.

Where is the harness to check the codes?

Harness is near the jumper, on the front passenger side under the hood.  Jumper is a standard ford plug, but like he said I firmly recommend just grounding the jumper and pulling the codes.  It's a single wire connector, just wire it to a ground nearby.  Then put the key in and count the Check Engine light flashes.  Either get a shop manual, or repost your codes and I'll flip through mine.

It's a standard ford OBD I code reader from what I see.  Any reputable auto-parts store will have a multi-reader or a ford reader.

Im pretty sure our cars are not OBD compliant. We have a bosch ECU running MECS, I don't know if it will output codes to a reader

Mine has the same plug as this, which is what the tool shown above attaches into.  That's Ford OBD I, OBD II would be under the dash on the driver, or passenger(honda).  Unless this plug doesn't work with ford OBD I readers, which would make it kinda pointless to have.
