so I finally bought a set of 3a racing seats ! Now comes the fun part of installing them, any tips on mounts? Can I use original seat mounts and weld or drill them? Thanks for any advice
-
universal sliders mount perfect..drill to the floor and go...
-
That's great so I don't need mounts with the sliders like the company I bought them from said
-
When I installed my racing seats, I couldn't use the "universal" sliders. The capri floor is not flat. You can't just bolt them down and be done with it. I used passenger side stock sliders for both seats, and fabricated a plate to bolt the seats to the sliders.

Russ...I just bolted mine down & was done...I drilled them into the ribs that stick up...No issues at all....
I used this style of brackets

I was able to make 2 very effective and very inexpensive mounting brackets that allowed me to use the factory floor mounts and sliders.
Worked out great.

Here is another set of seats I picked up cheap this past Sunday for another project.

Good job! What did you use for the mounting brackets?
-
I used different approaches for techniques.
Passenger side:
I used 2" 5/16 bolts and 3/8 x 1/2 x 1 inch steel spacers in place of the old spacers. Bolted that to a 3/16" x 1 1/2 " piece of steel and then bolted the seat to the the steel.
Driver side:
I used 2 - 3/8" x 18" all-thread with 1 1/2" steel spacers around the all-thread. Welded the spacers to a 3/16" piece of flat steel, and bolted the seat to the steel.
Both were very cheap to build.
I will post pics to better illustrate.
