I was going to pick up a Xr2, but in the pictures, it shows a n/a motor. This was swapped right? Also, what is the xr2 classified as for insurance? im hoping its not a sports car...
-
if there is no turbo and it is a XR2 then ya..they swapped it. as for insurance. the cars are old. so insurance is cheap. even when i owned mine back in 94 i only paid 100 full coverage and i was under 25.i pay 140 for 3 cars with a 16 year old driver on it.

Its possible they added the XR2 trim like the spoiler and foglights too, doesnt necessarily mean they swapped it
If its a VIN 6 capri then yeah its been swapped

title would say XR2 on it..mine does...

i will tell ya a secret, the n/a motor is identical to the turbo with the exception being the pistons (higher compression) and the oil and water bungs are not drilled and tapped.
the rods are the same ,under piston oil squirters are the same, all other differences lie in the computer and external componants.. and the na with a turbo makes more power per psi of boost than the B6T (9.4-1 compression) spools the turbo faster, and has more out of boost torque..
that being said, an xr2 with a na motor for the right price, may be worth your while...it can be made back into a B6-t and make more power than the original motor with the same setup... and if you already have the xr2 chassis ...you get the idea ..well be good and have fun ..Joe

I'd go with RM it's easier to swap the crap than the motor! Real popular too.
