Title: Hose partial blockage.
Post by: Kiwimagic on May 11, 2020, 10:14:41 PM
Hi
The large hose that connects to my air regulator and then to the air cleaner has a lump of plastic which blocks off around 50% to 60% of the flow. It looks like plastic that has leaked (flash) into the hose when the hose was originally moulded. It is just above where the small bypass hose joins. Should I grind this extra plastic out and therefore increase the flow. Or should I leave it. It has been there since new.(http://)

cheers

Can you post a picture? The stock Capri uses a few bits in the vacuum lines. I think a restrictor in the bypass valve vac line and a check valve in the brake booster vacuum line.

My goodness. That is the turbo intake j-pipe. Never seen anything like that. Poor car. It's been choked its entire life!
Yes, clear that out.

Or better, replace that whole intake tract with aluminum piping + couplers. The stock j-pipe is quite restrictive.
On my one XR2 I dropped the whole VAF to be inline with the turbo and used plumbing reducers to connect everything.

Yea man get that out of there! , that's definitely restricting air flow!
