92 Capri Check Engine / Air Bag light
« on: October 21, 2010, 01:32:00 AM »

Ok, im new here but I really need help.
I have a 92 Merc Capri 1.6 non turbo. Has 114K miles on it. Bought it 4 months ago on Craigslist. Been restoring it. The check engine light is on. The airbag light flashes 10 times and shuts off. Sometimes I hear a beeping over the speakers.
I took the car and had it scanned and was told it was the coolant temp sensor under the intake body. So i replaced it. Car runs a lot better now but the light is still on. Can't find anybody who can scan it now. Don't feel like paying $45 to get it scanned again. Can I do it myself? All i see is the the three connectors on the passenger side under the hood by the a/c component. Is there a way that I can jumper it to make the check engine light flash to show me the codes? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

please help!!

There should be a wire off the firewall with a single plug on the passenger side in the engine bay.  Ground that wire then check the light inside.  Remember to remove your jumper wire when you get the codes, or else your battery might drain.

From what I could find.. here
http://autorepair.about.com/library/ts/obd-i/bl-dtcs-25a.htm?once=true&

It's a Water Temp Sensor
Now, when i first bought the car it was running rough and I changed the Coolant Temp Sensor under the fuel rail above the starter. With a new one.
What about the other one by the Thermostat?
Think I should change that one? Or is there something else I don't know about?

The other one is the sender for the temp gauge and is not connected to the ECU.

The "other other" one runs the radiator fan relay.

Unsure why are are still getting the code. I'd check the connector & the wiring perhaps.
