I'm looking for the rear panel that sits behind the tail lights of a '94. I
have '94 tail lights for my '93 and want to install.
Also, the tail lights I picked up both have previous melting issues. I have a
repair plan for the sockets, but the magnifying baffles have been melted in the
turn signal/brake light area. So the questions are:
1. should I look to replace the baffle or can I get away without them as long
as I vent the sockets?
2. has anybody tried this and are the bulbs bright enough without a magnifier?
3. Anybody want to buy a rare '90 Lebaron Convertible 3.0 SOHC Mitsubishi 6cyl, 5sp?
As most people know, the magnifier in pre-'94s is in the outer lens/housing.
I'm concerned that the heat from the standard bulbs will melt the more sensitive
plastic on the outer light housing of the '94 assembly. LEDs have not worked
for me on my '94, unless someone knows how to overcome the quirky electrical
things that seem to happen when they are installed. Thanks.

normally there is a resistor that you can put inline with the leds to stop the quick flash problems. autozones normally sell them.
russ might have that light pnl. i never see the pnl with the lights for sale. if i did not have a donor car i would of never known it myself when i did my swap
-
So when you did your lights you wired in the resistor? Thanks, I'll check it out at autozone.

should do it
-
Ok so the 94 lights set up will go into a 91-93
-
yes...you need the panel that goes with it as well...which i never see when they are sold on ebay..the harness too unless you want to do some splicing as well
-
I just found one on eBay, but it was listed as a '96 Capri filler panel. Not only did they get the year wrong, but they had it grouped with Cougar parts - go figure...

I got some lights. First, I bought a pair and found after I got them that the left tail light had a cracked lense - just wasn't visible in the photo. So then I found another left and the lense isn't cracked, but the housing is so faded it doesn't match the right one.
So whaddya do? I tried armorall on the faded one, but they still don't match. I thought about switching the lenses, but it looks like a sealed unit. I think maybe I'm just gonna mount the ones with good lenses and keep working on the faded light. Maybe try a buffer to rub out the faded black housing.
I'm gonna paint the filler piece black, so it'll be a band of black against the Stratosphere Blue. I think it'll be hip.

painting the lights was so easy as well...then blue painters tape slid in between the lens and trim..not one speck on the lights at all...
