Title: idle 4000 rpm after turbo replace
Post by: larry on August 02, 2008, 12:42:00 AM
hi, i just bought a 91 xr2 with a blown turbo.  i got another out of a junk yard, known good.  put it in.  now the car is idling at 4,000 rpm.  it appears that the throttle is advanced, like someone has their foot on the pedal.  these cars are new to me.  i must have something unhooked, but all the hoses are on the right place i think.  any suggestions please?  could i have missed the ground wire to something?  thanks, larry

larry look at the butterfly on the throw body and see if its seting on the the rest or does it look like the butterfly is open??  u may need to ajust the air fuel swrews or the idea air control value?? tell me with is see i dont think you could miss a vaccum line that would make it run that high

Make sure you have the idle valve hose connected properly, and make sure nothing is jamming the throttle open. Check the dashpot on the TB also.
