Putting away for winter
« on: October 29, 2009, 05:26:00 AM »

Well, winter is coming.... fun time is over...  Where has the summer went?  This is probably going to be our last 70 degree day... so Rick and I are busy putting our Babbies away until Spring.  Then we have to make sure our winter Capri's are ready to go...

Who else put's their Capri's up for winter?  Just curious if there are other silly people out there besides Rick and I...  I have to get back to cleaning....

I cover both of mine (no garage), but I'll uncover either one as long as it stays in the 40s.  Leather Jacket, gloves, hat, and glasses.  I'll put that tonneau cover on and blast the heat underneath it. Below those temperatures, I may drive it with the top up, as long as the road is dry and free of ice, snow and salt.

Any top-down day under the above conditions is a good day!

im going to be using 1awg amp power cord from battery into distributor box and running 4awg to fuse box and 4 awg to starter. will also be running a better engine to ground and if i can a 4 awg from alternator to batter. will be basically updating all the wire.

the extra wire i get from bater to amp because it will be much close i will be running a 10awg from battery to fuel pump. hopefully thats a big enough wire to make a difference that all i will have extra.

bigger in all areas is not always better. more amps and current can cause things to smoke if you do not keep an eye on things...

mines a daily driver, year round,
but if it is calling for real nasty weather, i have a cover for it...

my car blew a piston about this time last year (Halloween),and my car was laid up until march of this year... when i rebuilt it.

so this will be its first winter since 2007...

I too, don't have a garage, only a car cover, it likes to sit in my friends garage! But only on rainy days, when I'm forced to drive the storm! Mine leaks in the rain, right where the wing window meets the windshield. I've been thinking about pulling the rubber molding and putting a couple of layers of 3M double stick tape behind it. See what happens. kind of sucks not being able to drive it when it rains! It rains alot on the coast of Washington in the winter/fall!!!!

Black RTV.......and maybe tighten down the hooks some to pull the top closer...

when you put RTV on the seal...put some Vaseline on the roof part and lock down the roof for about 15 seconds. this will make a mold of the top and should seal it good...keep it dirt free while drying..

did that on a few sunroofs and t-tops back in the day
