alright guys, the larger one with one wire that "points" at the drivers side is the fan controll temperature switch...at a certain temp(arround 200*) it kicks the cooling fan on ...
the smaller one facing back at the firewall with one wire is the guage controll switch (gives the guage in the dash the temp) this is also the one you replace when you run an aftermarket water temp guage.....
and theres one more on the back of the intake manifold, out back of the idle air controll... right below where the bung for the heater core comes out at.. this is a two wire switch, and the wire runs from your injector harness, over the top and down to it and has a connector like an injector, or like the idle air controll has
with the PITA piece of wire in it... this is the ECUs water temp guage, and is the one yall are talking about......
now if you unplug the first one ...the fan will stay on all the time but wont affect engine performance at all...
if you unplug the second one you will lose your guage reading but wont affect engine performance at all ....
if you unplug the third one, out back of the motor... you will not get a temp reading to the ecu, and the car will run rich, and burn alot of gas, and just run poorly ....
BUT.... my car also has the same thing... it will hesitate, and under higher boost pressure it will even break up, until the car heats up... and is completely normal... where the car is trying to warm itself up, and idles higher, and runs rich trying to do so....
they all do it, and its normal, just let it warm up before you go gassin on it......
Your welcome.....Joe...RCI
