I am new to this and working on cars

I have a 91 Capri Xr2 all it has is a
2.5 cat back exhaust
and a flat K and n air filter


what should i do to the car to get more turbo boost
and what can i do to get more horsepower i don't have that much money tho

is it bad to put a after market blow off value on a stock motor what one is good for this car
I like bouncing it off the rev limiter sounds cool

hey guys..remember when i saw a capri with roll cage on cardomain....here it is..LOL

BOV does nothing for performance..goto the DID you know section and read up some there

i would say ditch the k&n and get an open intake, MBC are cheap. thats what you need to raise the boost. but then you need a gauge to see how much your raising. you will need a rocketchip to get more boost and it keeps going from there...

just read those sections and you can read this here...its for the eclipse..but same principle will work for us

A) the cage looks cool, but is major overkill you lost half a second in the 1/4 mile just welding it in...

B)you need an open cold air intake to take air into the turbo, a boost controller, a computer chip, (ie rocketchip)and a boost guage....
 that will allow you to turn the boost up some ,

 you need a hard pipe kit and a front mount intercooler, these with your exhaust would be a good start and would let you turn it up from the stock 8 psi to about 14-16psi safely...

 from there you can put a BOV, a downpipe, high flow cat, bigger turbo, injectors, ect.ect.ect.

the problem really remains that all these things are going to cost money...how much depends on who you know, and what quality componants you buy....

oh and if you value your engines life at all stop bouncing it off the rev limiter... thats not good...

i dont know were to get this stuff for my car

and i got the car by trading my quad and it already had the roll cage in it

also how hard is it to put a intercooler on cause i don't have any mechanic skills also what size fits on the capri

Don't worry! We are here to help! Many of the items can be sourced here - Many of the guys here have parts laying around they don't use or are looking to get rid of. eBay is another good source.  For your Rocketchipped ECU, we are lucky enough to have the creator of the RocketChip as a regular member here!

Make a list of the items you want to get, or the areas you want to improve on.  Then, prioritize the list by importance and cost. Don't be afraid to ask questions, like I said, we're here to help!

what is the cheapest thing i could do to it cause i only have like $100 to my name right know and i want to do a something cheap

you'll need a little more than $100 though

For your boost controller, go with a unit from Tunerfixx. Cory is a member of this board also, and he makes an excellent product!  He has one on eBay right now.  Auction number #150407369631. The list also gives a brief description of a Manual Boost Control is, and how it works!

how hard is it to put a intercooler on and how much do you think that would be there is one on ebay abut is that for the older capri

You can find a good universal intercooler kit on eBay (like this one: #140376833977). Just make sure the IC is no longer than 27". You need to know what you are doing, as you need to cut the chassis to run the pipe. Also, you will lose your A/C.

i thought it was easy to do.

remove bumper, mount it.....hardest part i thought was cutting the holes for the pipes to go in to the engine bay, need a 3in hole saw. then map out your piping...

couple of us bought a kit from ebay like this..mine had the BOV with it as well.. but it was this size intercooler and these exact pipes..i has left over pipes. it cost me 280 for everything installed my self
