Title: Rear Strut Bar
Post by: STE_6000 on June 21, 2003, 05:59:00 PM
Well I was wondering if anyone has thought about creating a rear strut bar. I know that the car has the renforced area for the top that adds structor to the rear. I believe that a more soild piece of metal spanning the back will help give the chasis more rigitness and better rear handling over what the car already gains from the convertiable top bay storage area.

Hard part that i didnt have at all with the front one, is the hydrolic arms on the trunk lid. I do not want to remove them so Im thinking of going around them.

Yep, one of many I think about. Ill just have to design more ideas on paper like I did when I made my front one.

Do you have a pic of your front one?
BTW, how do you feel with front bar now?

Yes, the front bar is shown in the gallery section under my pics. And the handling was improved greatly for the capri. It was noticable right off the bat on how the capri would turning of the wheel was more responsive and how it would want to keep its speed throught turns. But the down fall was the loss in confort. What happens is that the chasis will now push against it self when hitting a bump cause the bar connects the top of the frame now, so when one wheel goes up from a bump on one side the other wheel will give the same feeling so you will notice the bumps more. Just not as much if you lowered your vehical. Overall I think it was an improvement worth doing. The brackets are black and the bar is chromed. As for clearance due to the hood and engine not providing enough room for the bar unlike its 323 counter part. I solve this on my end by making the bar go behind the throttle body as you can see in the picture. Yep thats my secert its now out.  :(  This combination with the new shocks and coilovers makes for a greater handling car yet more sensitive to the roads conditions, but hell its a sports car not your grandpa's cordoba.  ;)
