new to site, couple questions
« on: February 25, 2011, 02:33:00 PM »

Hello all,  I'm new to the site as of today.

I am going tomorrow to test drive and hopefully buy this car.

http://www.cincinnatiusedautosales.com/vehicledetails.aspx?VID=125974778

Couple of question for you guys.

1.  The interior door handles are down to bare metal as you can see in the pics.  Is it easy to find and replace these?

2.  Anything in particular, defect wise, I should look for in/ on/ around the car?

Thanks  and hope to be hang with you guys soon !!

+2. Those are homemade...looks like copper pipe. Probably be better than the OEM plastic ones, lol! But you can find them, eBay usually has a decent supply.

Rust- check rockers, rear fenders, front control arms, brake lines. These are all problem areas.

Check for smoke. The car has high mileage but not anything too absurd, but smoke is a sign of a blown turbo. $1500 is a little high for a car with that mileage, but its balanced out by the hardtop.

Does it come with the hardtop removal tool?
Drop the back seat and check the condition of the soft top under the hardtop. (lock panel inside driverside doorjam) It'll be hard to see.

If its trashed, see if you can knock the price down a couple hundred. Replacements can be had for $200 but they're a little tough to install yourself

Thanks for the info,  not sure about the hardtop removal tool.  I'll have to ask tomorrow.  Do "HAVE" to have to the tool to remove the hardtop?  I'll most likely take it off anyway and not put it back on.

Hardtop is fantastic in the winter. Its basically a ratcheting hex key, you can find other ways to remove it, but its nice to have. (if it uses the original bolts that is, lol)
