Title: Turbo blow off valve
Post by: huzrddy on July 18, 2010, 02:57:00 AM
Alright people, I have a quick technical question, well kinda anyways. I am a slow person when it comes to turbos and blow off valves. I am looking to upgrade turbo and add blowoff valve to my '91 how difficult is it and what would you guys recommend?  I dont necessarily have to upgrade the turbo, just keeping the option open.  The reason I am looking for a bov is because after I modified the lower half of my air chamber (poor man version of a cold air) I am now experiencing what has been called by others the "fart".  I am talking about the lack of back pressure between shifts that makes a damned stupid humming noise when shifting.  The bov is really only wanted to cover the noise lol.  thanks for any input you guys have.

the fart is the stock bypass valve. good upgrades are the hks BOV you can get the knock off hks on ebay for cheap. there is also greddy type s style BOV. there really isnt a wrong or a right way to go with BOV they come in many different styles some you need to weld a flange some you dont its all person preference really

Go to silcone intakes.com, Man they have all kinds of different BOV's.
The one I put on my car is so loud that people at rest homes flip me off when I pass by!!

shoot, I even painted the top cone red to match. I dont think I spent more than $40 total, then used things laying around the shop to install it. Works like a champ!! Good luck!!

I got a BOV adapter on Ebay. I think it was for an RX 7, also 19mm, like our cars. My adapter works with TYPE RS bovs, but you can get them for HKS etc.Rocky

Kelly, which BOV did you get for your car in the picture? I want an in line one like you have without having to weld a flange. Also i read you took off the power steering pump. Is there a big difference in steering? I'm debating weather to take mine off or not. Thanks
