XR2 hesitating/stuttering @ 3000 RPMs

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums but not new to XR2s.  My dad bought one brand new in '91 and has had about 5 since that one.  Needless to say, he's in love.  

Anyway, we're having a problem with our current XR2 that we can't seem to pinpoint.  As I'm driving normal, with no boost, the car will start to hesitate or stutter at about 3000 RPM.  If I feather the throttle a few times it will go away but will happen again in the next gear.  

This doesn't happen all the time.  I should also mention that it seems to be more prevalent once it's warmed.  Also, there is in check engine light.

Thanks in advance to everyone.  Any help or past experience with this would be awesome!

I had the same problem. It only got worse. Lost all my power. Then randomly one day it worked fine. still have no clue what was wrong. I think someone said the cel is mainly just the o2.

Check the ground wires that are bolted to the thermostat housing on the front right side of the motor.

Also check the plug wires. Get a good set...NGK or magnecore....no cheap parts store sets....after you check the TPS.

I was literally just researching the TPS symptoms.  It sounds very much like this is the problem.  I checked ebay but didn't see any on there.  Does anyone know where I can pick one up?  I don't mind if it's used.  In fact, the cheaper the better!  Thanks!

i agree it could be the tps but i had the same problem after a top end rebuild i had missed those 2 ground wires fixed them up problem solved  :cool:

So I changed the TPS and it's still doing the exact same thing.  Does anyone have any other advice that may have had experience with this?
