Coming home from visiting Russ I did not want to go through Chicago, I took 355 south to rt 80, it was actually pretty quick. I made it to Valparaiso exit in ~3hrs IIRC.

There is a sweet spot in Chicago traffic once in a while.  I have made it from my house to indiana in 2 hours, and I live 60 miles from iowa.  I was also driving an Audi A4 over 70 mph bumper to bumper, but that's another story.

To answer your question Dr. Bob...

We have 19 cars registered to date....  I have a couple people who won't be joining us for other obligations (wedding, family issues, wrecked car, etc.)...  So we may be down in numbers this year....   but we will still have a great time....

As for traveling through Chicago....  We too have made it from Indiana to Rockford in less than 2 hours.... BUT, it has also taken almost 6 hours before....  You got to love Chicago traffic!  You never know what you are going to run into....

We take our Church Group for summer camp into Wisconsin (north of Janesville WI) each year...  and have ran into traffic on Sunday morning going through Chicago...YES, Sunday...  so this year Rick is planning on going through Streator over to I39 and up....  yes, it is more miles...but will probably be less time...  I know we took our Capri convoy up I39 into Rockford for the 6th capri gathering (the last time up that way)... and it took us a little over 3 hours....  but we took our time and enjoyed the ride... (less stress).
It was very enjoyable....

Im still planning on being there. As far as I know CapriTypeR wants a bunch of parts off me, so Ill be bringing those plus whatever else I have that I can fit.

Ill let you guys decide what to do about "registration" for me. Im not gonna actually be in the show, pretty much pawn off my parts and check out the cool cars

Lol, Cheryl... ummm

... I'll be in my Festiva... hahahaha

I only have two doors, two fenders, trunklid, vert stow lid, hood, and some smaller parts.

A guy came to a festiva meet recently with two MOTORCYCLES in his car. Granted they were 250's but still. Never underestimate the utility of a festy  :D

Maybe I should do a "test fit" before the day comes.

Hey All....  Computer is back up and operational....  Terrible time for wireless router to go out!

Have a safe trip while traveling in for the 9th Annual Mid America Capri Gathering....  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me...  My cell number is 219-954-1062...  Rick and I are truling looking forward to seeing everyone and all our wonderful cars....

Speaking of our cars...  Rick has decided to break up our twins.   This is a very sad day for me....   For those who remember the last 2 years...  Our 94 XR2 Cobalt Blue that we had restored a couple years ago, is up for sale...  We will have it at the Gathering again this year, probably the last time as our car.  I would really like for her to go to another Capri family, so if you are interested...please see Rick.

Drive safe one and all...and we will see you Saturday....

Brookside Park - on right hand side just 3 miles east of Hwy 65....
