5th Annual Mid-America Capri Gathering
« on: February 21, 2006, 09:55:00 AM »

Ladies and Gentlemen, and Children of most ages.

I (drboB) am proud to announce that the 5th Annual Mid-America Capri Gathering will be on Saturday, July 29th 2006.

The time starts at 9:30 am at the Rockford Speedway in Rockford Illinois. (http://www.rockfordspeedway.com for directions)

Get your vacation days in.  Come and join the Largest Gathering Of Capri Convertible Enthusiasts In The Country.

Last year we had 33 cars from 11 states, This year we are expecting at least 50 cars.

This is a great opportunity to meet the people you meet on the internet.  This is a great opportunity to drive your car on a real NASCAR racetrack.  This is a great opportunity to have a really great time.

If you come once, you will want to come again (just ask anyone who have shown up)  Almost everyone who has shown up once, have come back again the next year.

I look forward to seeing everybody again, and meeting new members.

DR. Bob has done an excellent job of putting on a great outing. I would like to try to get sponsors for this years outing.   If anybody has any suggestions on who to ask let me know. I am developing a form letter which I will be mailing out to who ever we think might give us money or goods which can be used for the outing.  There are several auto parts stores in Rockford who usually give to other shows so I am going to be contacting them. Suggestion and or idea's would help.

Registration for the 5th Annual Mid-America Capri Gathering is starts today.

The cost this year for the Gathering is $40 per car.  I know it is more than last year, but expenses have increased.  I apologize if this is an inconvience to anyone.

To send money via paypal, the email address is drbob5769@yahoo.com , in the comments section, be sure to let me know how many people are coming, and T-Shirt sizes.  Extra T-Shirts are $20.  If you are going to snail mail the money, send it with the same information to:
boB Marcum
c/o 5th MACG
1335 W. Stover st
Freeport, IL  61032

Also this year, we are going to try something new for the Bag-O-Crap.  We are putting the call out to all members to send in items.  We are anticipating 50 cars this year, so send in enough of one item for everyone.

If you have an exceptional item that you think would make a good door prize, please send it also.

So come one, come all.  Enjoy an exceptional day with your fellow Capri owners.

Registrations and money must be in by June 1st.  This gives us time to get the T-Shirts ordered, and paid for.  Again, all registrations must be in by June 1 2006.  Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you on the 29th of July.  Registration will be $50 at the door.

I would like to that those of you who have sponsored this event so far.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  I am unable to spend the money I did the last couple years (I keep buying more cars) and every littlebit helps greatly.

This year our track costs went up quite a bit, but I have been able to cover that.  Unfortunatly that is about all I can abosorb this year.  So we need as many people as possible to come to the event (the more money coming in, the more we can do).

Remember the 15th June is the deadline for registrations.  This gives us enough time to get the artwork, and money to the T-shirt folks, so we can have them in time for the Gathering.

Of course you can still show up the day of the event, but it will cost you $50 but cannot guarentee B-O-C or T-shirt size.

boo hoo

so how many have signed up so far?? a good response?

i was thinking of sending something for the B.O.C.  but what...  i will have to go and hunting for something good.

Oklahomer is not that far away.  maybe an 11 hour drive.  You could do that with your eyes closed.....OK maybe not......But we had a car come up from New MExico (and he will be here again this year)  I think we had someone show up from OK last year.

Registrations are slow right now.  In fact, NO ONE has registered.  Making me wonder if it will be worth it or not to do this.  If enough people do not register, there will be no T-Shirts.  But I also realize that there is still plenty of time for people to get their reservations in.  And from what I've heard, this years will be larger than last years.
