The typical idling RPM at a stoplight is just over 1,000 for my car. Lately when I push in the clutch as I approach a light, the RPMs dip to 500 and then go up to just over 1,000. The car almost dies when the RPMs dip this low. Why does it do this? I don't remember it doing it last year before I put it away for the winter. Thanks.

I wonder if your idle valve is a bit sticky - maybe a run a little carb cleaner thru it?
