A non ac power steering belt will fit on an ac car, won't it? Should save a HP or 2.Rocky

it is a smaller belt so you will lose the AC ... if you go that route you might as well remove the whole AC system ... will have a few benefits from this as less weight and as many people have experienced and as caprityper tried if you later go on to installing a FMIC ( highly recommended ) you will have to remove the AC to run the new pipes.

i would have to say it would not make to much of a difference because the pully is just an idle pully causing no tension unless the AC is on.

one thing i did notice a gain from, was after i removed the a/c and power steering i removed the outter pulley from the harmonic balancer.. completely.. this seemed to have let the engine spin a bit freer and yeild a few ponies...
the loss of the a/c comp and condenser unit ect. allong with the power steering pump and bracketry. all together gave a nice weight loss which always makes the car feel snapier...

When i removed my AC i noticed the car handled better... it was a bit more nimble. removing weight forward of the wheels is always good

what did you do with the power steering hoses when you removed the power steering and how hard is it to turn the wheel ?

same question Josh asked, how hard is it to turn the wheels?? Yes, as they all said, when installinf a FMIC, you will have to remove the AC. Believe me, I went through changs trying to figure out how to leave the AC on.
