BOV and mileage
« on: December 28, 2010, 01:48:00 PM »

It seams like my car is getting much worse mileage after tuneing my bov softer. Is that to be expected? Is it leaking and to soft? Winter weather and fuel can make a difference but I mean from @32 to @25 on the same road! Thanks Rocky.

How is your idle? Has anything else on your car changed?

I would not guess much of an impact, less one that drastic to be caused by the BOV. I didn't notice any difference in mileage on my Capri when I added a BOV.

If it is leaking boost you may be compensating with more gas.  From summer to winter in my Festiva I went from 48mpg to 43mpg.

Wow thats great mileage for any season! I am playing with the bov for milage, turned boost down to stock etc. I also just got new front tires,a much more agressive pattern than old ones.I get paid 45 cents a mile for work so I am not gonna sweat it untill spring when I drive for fun. Thanks Rocky.

If the BOV is leaking boost it will not add more fuel, but the loss of metered air will cause a rich condition, and therefore less mpg.
