rpm at 70 mph ?

I have gotten my project capri on the road and it seems to run fine.
when i get it into 5th gear i expected the RPMs would drop down to 2500 or so but it stay near 4000.the gas milage is 20mpg but i was hoping for better.the engine is the 1992 standard base model.

Is this a manual or automatic? IIRC the N/A 5spd will sit around 3700 RPM at 70mph

the XR2 sits around 3500 RPM at 70mph. I'm not familiar with the gear ratios of the automatic, though

It has a manual trans. I guess the rpms are ok from what you have seen.
Now I need to improve the gas milage.

Is this car a turbo or non-turbo?  If it's a turbo, Roo-Sport provides the "5th gear swap".....It'll drop your RPMs by 500 at 60 MPH, thus improving your gas mileage. It'll also improve your top speed by upwards of 10%!
