should i remove my soft top?
« on: September 02, 2012, 06:13:00 PM »

i found a hardtop at the local junkyard for a shocking price. anyways, i have it bolt it on the capri already. and the hardtop does weigh quite a bit. so the question is, should i remove the soft top from the capri instead of having it stored in the capri to avoid wrinkle damage or the plastic window damaged and to avoid the extra weight with the hardtop. cause i think having both on the capri can add some extra weight to the car.

IIRC it's an extra 80lbs on the car. I've removed the soft top in the past, but only for trunk access through the backseat passthrough.

In my experience, the soft top ends up more damaged sitting in the garage/shop/shed than it does sitting in the car. One hot sunny day will eliminate all the wrinkles.

So it's really up to you, if you're doing it for weight savings it's really not that much total
