Newbie introduction.....
« on: January 09, 2011, 02:07:00 PM »

Well, after living for two years, on two wheels alone, (Sold my Explorer, to buy a 2nd motorcycle.) I've decided it's time to get a car. I locally found a 93(?) Capri N/A A/T. The seller tells me it needs a new ECU. It's got a dent in the front bumper, and the left fender is tweaked in pretty good.

I may be making my decision tomorrow. However, I have some concerns....

My intentions are to pull the N/A powerplant, and go turbo. Has anyone here done this?  I'm proficient in mechanics. (It's what I do for a living.) But, all cars are different. Just trying to prepare myself for what might be coming, and the reference material online, is pretty sparse.

BTW, I'm Jessica.

Yes its possible, I've personally done it before as well as a few others. (conversion to XR2 engine/trans)

To be perfectly honest - it is much easier to hold out and wait to find an XR2.

Otherwise you'll probably want to find a wrecked donor XR2 - its expensive / time consuming to piece together a turbo conversion.

You're not looking to keep the automatic transmission are you?

Turbo conversions have been a recent topic of discussion, you will find some material here. I can outline the conversion for you if you'd like. But you've come to the right place for info!

Also, welcome to TeamCapri!
