The Capri Lemon Project: It runs and drives!
« on: January 14, 2011, 10:47:00 AM »

I got everything going finally and took it out for a little spin.  The oil pressure was a tad low (20-30), the fan didn't work automatically, and the heater wasn't blowing warm.

I'll put 200-300 miles on it then do cone filter/boost controller (9-10psi).

Any ideas about my first three problems?

Oil gauges are notorious for reading low. Check the oil level, and use your ears. If the pressure is low, these motors will tell you.

Your temp sensor is shot. It is the green wired sensor in your thermostat housing. I may have some good ones.....
For now, just unplug it. the fan should run if the key is on

third problem could be coupled with the second. maybe your thermostat is bad?

Nice.

I would prefer if the fan ran all the time, I'll just unplug it.

I will put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in for the race, anyway.  Thanks for the heads up on the factory gauge.

The thermostat is a new 180.  The temp gauge was up at 180 cruising would creep up at rest. The radiator was definitely hot.  I think maybe the hot/cold air cable is busted.

I noticed when I had my 180* thermostat, I absolutely froze my balls off. I took a trip to Pittsburgh and back (~700 miles) and I just couldnt warm up. Toes were freezing! I put a 195* back in later that year and haven't had a problem keeping warm since

Interesting about the heater.  I'll gladly trade the heater for race track reliability.

Here is a video:

Can someone send me a picture of where they have their distributor?  What is the timing procedure?  I have a digital timing light and can see the mark, just need to know what jump/unplug/plug.

Our oil gauge barely moves off the bottom, ever but the car is still running.

I do wonder about how the hell my car doesn't run and has all gauges aparantely working but the fuel gauge.  Temp would hover around 200, Oil pressure would be 30+, since I still have the "crappy" original 91 gauges with actual numbers.

Good to know TMZ.  I'm going to put a gauge in anyway.  A 3 gauge kit was $30 and doesn't count towards the $500.
