I'm starting a build for my xr2 and I was wondering about different cams? Are there any on the market anywhere?
I am gonna use weisco pistons 8.5 cr and stronger rods.
I also would like to do the rocket chip and fmic and exhaust.
Does anyone have a hybrid turbo for sale or the parts I need to make the hybrid from the stock one?
Also I would be grateful for any tips. Im shooting for 250!
How many horse does the stock crank take before it breaks?

If you are shooting for 250 you will need more than a 11/14 hybrid. Look into building a Tbird/11 hybrid, or find a different turbo to work with. The 11/14 can only do about 220whp.

WEB Cams has grinds available for the 1.6. Check FlyinMiata's website too

The stock cranks are known to hold over 400hp, I've never seen anyone have a problem with one other than the shortnose problems, but that's a maintenance problem not power related. The stock rods are a weak point, somewhere between 250 and 300whp depending on how you treat the engine. The transmission diff is the weakest point in drivetrain

Ok thanks rocket! Will the 1.6 miata rods fit? I found some for a fairly reasonable price... they say they are good up to 600hp... I figure its safe to go overboard than have to buy another set of rods and pistons and waste money
BTW how much stronger will the diff weld make the tranny? Or is it still just as weak?
Does anyone have a tbird turbo for sale?     also how hard is it to use 450 cc investors? The only ones I can find are the wrong impedance for our cars... would I need to find a resistor pack to wire in or? Any suggestions?

The Miata 1.6 motor is the same basic motor as ours. So yes the rods will fit. There are chinese made H-Beams on ebay for $229 that I have had my eye on, those should work nicely if the quality is there.

Welding the diff helps prevent premature diff pin failure, but if you do a lot of burnouts/spinning one wheel excessively the problem still remains. There's no bearings on the inside of the spider gears, so they overheat, gall & smear the shaft they ride on when abused. This will ruin the diff in short order. Go MFactory if you can.

450cc are "too" big to run on the stock fuel system. It'll run pig rich. You can combat this with a RRFPR, but I've seen mixed results with that. You can run a Tbird compressor on the stock injectors to ~18psi - but make sure you have a wideband. You might be able to squeeze 20psi out of it.

If you do use low-impedance injectors, you will need a resistor pack.

What are you doing for an intercooler? exhaust?

Are those the scat rods or what brand?

As far as the diff. I plan on getting one eventually. Does it strengthen the diff overall or does it only protect it when you are doing burnouts?

I'm perfectly ok with not buying new injectors    should I get a fpr? If so what's a good one? I want to use the warlbro 255 pump.

What is your opinion on using a water to air opposed to a air to air? I like the idea of water to air bc of low pressure drops and colder air. But then I have to have water reservoirs and a water pump for that right?

As far as exhaust I was going to have the exhaust shop do a turbo back 2.5 inch exhaust... no smog in my area

What's the most convenient way to mount gauges? I was thinking of the ones that sit on the dash since I can't find a triple gauge pod
