Did it strip out the hole in the manifold? Do the threads still have meat left?

The new WB sensor will directly replace the old 02 sensor, however wideband prefers to be installed downstream of the turbo (anywhere after the turby) so you could plug or weld the manifold shut and weld an O2 bung in the downpipe.

The BPT dump pipe for the VJ20 is threaded for an O2 sensor if you're looking for a more budget option but you'll need to mate it to your current exhaust. The VJ20 piece would be an upgrade too its much better flowing than the stock dump pipe

so i should plug the old manifold hole and install the new bung onto the downpipe? how hard would that be to drill and thread? and how would i plug the old manifold pipe ?

also is the vj20 exhaust side a direct bolt on ?

hell i would just bust/grind off the old 02 and then put it back in. then you can just weld it back in there...

i never knew the wideband needed to be further down.

any pics of that other pipe?

so i can have an idea where to put it when i get mine.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't WB o2 sensors have 4 wires and SB have the single wire? How do you hook up a WB with only 1 wire to wire to?

You're thinking heated Vs. non-heated narrowband sensors. Heated narrowband function exactly the same as narrowband, but have a heating element in them to bring them up to temp quicker & during extended idle where a non-heated sensor could cool off. The heating element in them requires a few extra wires, which can be run off a relay if you want to upgrade.

Wideband is an entirely different type of setup, it uses its own computer and usually has a one-wire output from its controller to emulate a stock narrowband sensor so the ECU stays happy. They have 5-9 wires to the sensor depending which one you get

wow, I never heard of that, I have alot of learning to do yet! So if I find a good wideband o2 it will still tell the cpu everything it needs and give me a gauge to tell me how its running as far as air and fuel?

You would need to find a wideband with "narrowband emulation" I have a PLX WBO2 setup with NB emulation and it works well with the stock ECU.

They're expensive and really only beneficial if you're pushing the limits of the stock fueling system. (It's insurance for your engine. WBO2 tells you *exactly* what airfuel ratio you are running, NB gives you an approximation) I usually recommend them to folks who are upgrading their turbo or above & beyond that, otherwise it's an overpriced toy

ok, but whats wrong with using the stock o2 for the ecu and using a WB after the turbo for a gauge in the car?

You can do that, but you will need to have an extra bung welded into the downpipe for the extra sensor. WBO2 should go after the turbo, either way

Theoretically using the narrowband emulation will net you better gas mileage, as the WBO2 is dead accurate at all times and can give the ECU better information than a narrowband sensor could. I picked up a few mpg here and there with the WB
