Looking for ways to clean out the fuel tank. Drained the 9 year old fuel out well let's just say gas smelling oil looking substance.  And theres some built up rust and crud inside and was looking for ideas other than the peat gravel trick we use on motorcycle tanks cuz of the shear size and pain in the arse of that job.  Ty. Any suggestions are welcome

I just cleaned one that had been sitting for 3 years. Lacquer thinner I found to be the best way to clean it. I never put any bolts or rocks in tank to help clean it. I just let it set for 4 weeks turning it every day until it worked the crud off. Scrub brush helped also. But rockets idea of just getting a new one is also a good idea just have to spray it with undercoating, so outside wont rust. Hope this helps...

for undercoating a new tank, is it better to spray all sides before install and touch up any scratches, or just do bottom after install.

I'd say spray the whole tank before installing. It's undercoating, I don't think you're really going to scratch it. Installing the tank is not difficult

i would of ran 2 cans of berrymans B12 Chemetool in it..good to go after that..HAHA
