For your steering:
Commonly a busted swaybar endlink. Could also be tie rod ends, or balljoint
Swapping to the large nose crank is fairly involved. It's not something that can be done in-car. Cheaper & less work to locate a different engine.
-The oil pump is different
-The pulley assembly/harmonic balancer is different (can only source this used)
-Front main seal is different
If you're swapping cranks you will probably want to replace:
-Main Crank Bearings
-Connecting Rod bearings
-Thrust washers
-Front & Rear main seals
