Post by: gp9c1 on April 03, 2017, 06:58:31 PM
so I bought a capri for 500$, was running ok for a short bit but then it started to bog, cleaned the maf and it went away, now its back and it seems like the maf cleaner isn't working

what exactly is the bogging like? I had a similar sounding issue that was fixed by replacing vacuum lines.

Does it do it under load? Fuel pump maybe?

Alternator maybe? My car would stutter and bulk right after the alternator failed.

under any condition it will bog, can drive it at any speeds but sounds like a fart and lacks power, although when cruising at a certain speed it will not fart, it seems like it has about 200rpm worth of buffer when cruising, if trying to accelerate it farts and sometimes will pop

Pull the pump out of the tank and check the pump filter. This will a get you a look at the inside of the tank. Then check the pressure before the under hood filter. Then replace the fuel filter under the hood regardless of what you find. You need the process of elimination to start working for you. Get a baseline and go from there since you have no history on the car. If the fueling is not the problem move to electrical and vacuum.
