Another "My Capri" thread =)
History
The family purchased the car early 1990 from Jefferson Ford. My brother and myself were only kids then and for the next 4 years grew up riding around in the car.
My sister was born soon after then the family had to buy a bigger car. We were pretty poor so we had to make due as best we could and save enough to buy a new car. For the next few years my bro and I had to sit in the back wedged either side of the baby capsule. Good thing the back seat in the Capri was so tight, it was as if we were strapped in anyway.
Having a family of 5 and a 4 seater car limited our travelling options and was the death of the Family Holiday.
Come 1998, the family business picked up and we were approved for a car loan. Enter the 1998 Toyota Prado. This thing was massive and Mum and Dad loved it, only taking it out on weekends or if we needed to move the family or cargo. The Capri was still the daily driven car and we regained the long lost fondness of owning one.
By 1999 I was learning how to drive and even passed my driver's exam in that very car. It was a crowning moment.
At that time I was working at a call centre and studying a Bachelor of Arts at UWS Bankstown. Within my first week of driving I got into my first accident. Being over confident and running late for work I nudged the bumper of a truck. No damage done (to the truck) and most of the contact on the Capri buffed out. I was very careful after that.
It was soon after when the mods began. Everytime something wore out or broke I replaced it with something better (if a part was available and if I had enough to buy it)
The olds prefered to drive their SUV and eventually the Capri became my own car.
Just last year my Sister and I took Her on the Grand Pacific Drive down south to celebrate her [Capri's] 18th birthday.
As you can see, She's hasn't just been in the family, She's part of it.
