As for the door speakers, they are a very shallow depth speaker.  Measure inside clearence first, or you will be sorry.  This is the voice of experience.

Mike,

Are you planning on replacing the entire headlight door, mechanism and motor or just the motor itself ?

In that case, I'm sorry but I can't help you much.  I haven't removed one of the motors in a couple of years and I don't remember much about it.

I had posted here on Teamcapri about having one headlight making me nuts and I received a lot of help from other members with that problem.  I did a search for that post but it seems to have disappeared from the archives.

If I remember correctly, turn the headlight to the "up" position, take a few philips-head screws out of the black plastic that surrounds the headlight  and remove that black plastic.  Then there are 4 or 5 bolts (use a 10mm socket) and one wiring connector to remove the entire headlight assembly (including motor) from the car.  From there I don't think it's too much trouble to get the motor off but I'm sorry 'cause I can't remember all the details.

Good luck,
Dave

it is very easy there are 2 bolts on top and 2 on the back bottom and 2 plugs to take out the assembly and then there are some screws on the side of the assembly 4 for the top cover 4 for the black housing ... take that off and you will be able to see the motor and it is only a few screws to take off ... very simple i just looked at it and had it replaced in 20 minutes from just looking at it for the first time

Now before you buy a motor, remember, it may be OK, it may just need cleaning.  I am sure there are a few people on this forum that were able to fix their headlight motor without replaceing it.  So folks, lets hear from you and give this guy some good advice.

The headlight motors are interchangeable.  Gostlrs is a good guy to work with, and if a deal with him falls through, I have extras, as well!

I'm not trying to screw up anyone's sale here but you may very well be able to fix your headlight.

If it goes all the way up and all the way down (even slowly),  I think you're pretty much home free.

I brought mine back from what I thought was dead with the help of guys on this forum and I regret not being able to remember exactly what I did but if you take it apart , inspect it and clean it, it might just be fine.  I think I had to solder something in mine but I don't remember.  Again, all that stuff was in my post which seems to have vanished.  I'm think the title to my post was, "One headlight is making me NUTS" or something like that.  Maybe you or someone else can find it ?  There was some really good info and pictures in that thread....

My Capri makes the noise under the dash too.  It's been doing that for years but the headlights never fail to do their thing.  True, I hold my breath every time I hit the headlight switch but ol'faithful rarely lets me down.  Such a good car.

Just my 2 cents.

Dave
