Check engine light
« on: May 09, 2010, 06:02:00 AM »

Anyone know which pin on the B6V8 ECU is for the CEL? Trying to wire it up in my festiva. The thin green with red stripe wire from the black connector doesn't seem to be doing it...

Looks like pin 1A

pinout is for a B6B3 GTX ecu but 98% of the terminals are the same

Only getting .14v off that, key on engine off. Goes to 0 engine on.

Also noticed about 153 ohms between that and ground. When I jumper the test connector to blink out codes it flashes between 153ish ohms and no continuity.

The wire on the festiva ecu plug for the check engine light has battery voltage with the key on. If I ground that wire the light comes on. If I hook that wire up to the MIL wire on the capri ecu nothing happens...

Double checked the wiring manual on Tech Capri...MIL light is indeed 1A. I can't find a circuit diagram for it though, perhaps the ECU grounds out that terminal...sounds like it.

Take a switched power wire, +12v...connect to one side of a 12v light bulb...then connect the other side of the bulb to ground...see if it flashes then

It appears you are correct. It is a switched ground. I can't figure out why there's so much resistance between it and the chassis though. As of right now it wont even light a regular bulb. It will faintly light an led though.
