injectors not firing
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:03:00 AM »

Everything's hooked up. Pressure at the rail and spark at the plugs. It just cranks and cranks. No fuel on the plugs. No power to either wire on the #4 injector plug with key on.

What's up?

If you crank it and put a screwdriver tip on the injector and the handle to your ear you should hear the injector firing. If it isn't getting power obviously it wont fire. here is the diagnostic for it;

http://www.techcapri.com/PDF/Repair/Capri_PCM_Fuel_Delivery_Turbocharger_S09B.pdf

Starts on 9B-38. Pretty convoluted but it's all you have.

This is the Wiring diagram, trace the power out at the ECU if you have already decided there isn't any on the injector. If there isn't power at the ECU then it's most likely dead.

http://www.techcapri.com/PDF/Repair/Capri_WIRE_91_28x17_Complete.pdf

If I remember correctly there was a problem in some of the ECU's from coolant from the heater core leaking into it and corroding a trace on the PCB. Jumping the trace with a wire repaired the problem.

Good luck, it's hard to trace electrical issues from 350 miles away. A good VOM will be your best friend on this one.

Okay upon closer inspection there's battery voltage at BOTH wires on the injector plug. I've tried swapping fuel pumps and regulators. There's definately pressure in the rail.

I'm not closely familiar with how the ECU works I can't find schematics for it but I would assume that the voltage is present and the ECU adds a ground to complete the circuit.

The screw driver thing works great you actually get to hear the injector cycling.

Hah, I've done that before, when I was installing my fuel cell & the walbro. I had the lines all sorts of screwed up, they switch over somewhere near the engine bay. Took a lil while for me to figure it out
