Post by: Christian on September 19, 2010, 06:56:00 PM
Just wondering if anyone has bought one, and their thoughts on it. I dunno if its worth the 40 dollars or if I should just go straight up cone filter. Heres the link http://www.midcomustang.com/capripartspg07.shtml#perf (http://www.midcomustang.com/capripartspg07.shtml#perf)

I'd go with the cone filter... But it isn't all that hard to swiss cheese a stock airbox. If you're interested I have a spare one thats been cut up-

All you need is a metal cutting hole saw and make it happen. Road Race Engineering used to do that for the GTX. Quite the money saver.

I'm going with a cone filter but I'm still gonna box it(seperate it from the engine), as with the K & N Typhoon. That was the only one that showed any real improvement on my last car over stock. The idea being to keep the intake air as cool as possible. Just some simple molding that seals flush with the hood around the box when the hood is closed.

making a turbo have colder air does start at the filter but your best bet for cooling the air is a FMIC ... when the turbo compresses the air it creates alot of heat which isnt friendly to a car.

Always like input. Different intercooler is too steep for me right now. I'll check into the FMIC stuff. Kind of collecting parts until I can put everything together-2 1/2" piece of exhaust tubing, later another piece for it,etc. Walmart robbed me more blind in the eyeglass dept. than I was blind before I walked in-frickin getting old.
