I have a 94 console but I haven't connected the switches yet.
On the 91-93 the switches are heavier duty (not heavy enough lol) they are load-bearing and see the full current. This causes the carbon buildup, and they stop working after time and need to be cleaned. A diode or resistor might work well as a EMF suppressor to keep the internal arcing down and keep the switches cleaner but I havent really put the time into to test it.
On the 94 it seems like the switches might control a set of relays, instead of being load-bearing switches. They seem too frail to me. Does anyone with a 94 know about this?
Really a set of relays are the way to go, you would have to re-wire things a bit in the door but it would preserve the switches and if you kept the wiring short and used a heavier gauge, you could probably get the windows to operate a lot faster than they do now. I know mine creep, its annoying. I'll get to it eventually, I have bigger issues at the moment.
Just my $.02
