My "to do" list...
« on: January 17, 2012, 02:43:00 PM »

Got a good job, but a lotta bills.  My "to do" is going to be a long time coming.

Here's what I'm thinking.

1. Annoying little things: door handle, pull, trunk shock, HVAC lights, etc.

2.  5th gear swap (but it's sounding like a brake job may come first).

3.  Stock speakers MUST go.

4.  Detailing/touch-up paint.

5.  Improving the exhaust system.  2.25" to dual out?

6.  Wheels.  Were any years uglier than '93 on that?

7.  I get lost about here.  Turbo work next?  I see no point in fancy-painting a stock vehicle.

Well, yeah, I've been reading quite a bit on here and noticed most of those ...

For #8, I've been thinking a "trick lifter" set and a custom paint job (complete with *art*) and a christening ceremony (got my fancy name already picked out).

However, I wonder, with people starving around the world, and people out-of-work, etc.     --- should I really go to that extreme ....

Found out the sockets for the front parking lights and turn signals are corroding ... went to change a bulb for the PL and now the TS doesn't work either.

Is it possible to get new assemblies for these, or do I cobble together new contacts inside the existing assembly?  Couldn't find anything I thought matched the description on Russ's site....

Mine fell apart right before the last state inspection.  Ended up pulling the housing to fix it.  Went to autozone picked up a universal light socket.  It is designed to twist in and lock.  Modified the housing and cut two slots for the light to "cam" into.  Worked for me.

Hey, thanks for the tip Greg!

I had wondered about that sort of strategy.

Did you have trouble with the (relatively) limited amount of wire ... or just patch some additional cable in?

I did manage to get the TS working again with a little sandpaper and a soldering iron  ;)

The universal socket had some decent length leads on them. Cut, solder, heatshrink and done.  Used the same bulb as original also.
