Complete Exhaust Overhall

Okay so the whole exhaust system was replaced today.. A set of 4-2-1's Ceramic coated to keep the heat down in the engine bay, Flex Pipe, High flow cat, Muffler and new chrome tip.
The original system (19 years old)was long overdue for a change... its not too loud but has a nice deep sound. A little raspy where the flex pipe is, but the muffler guy said it should dis-appear when the carbon starts to build up in it.. Is this correct? Otherwise I'll have to take it back and change the brand or rather...I dont like raspiness.

In the photo you can see the o2 sensor struggling for space. Will this be a problem? Can I bend it a little upwards or is there an aftermarket one which is shorter ? What do you guys think ?

Car seems to run a little better and you can feel a little more torque in the engine in higher revs...

Ah, the good 'ol SOHC...

I'm not sure about the flex pipe. Most have an accordian style bellows inside to allow for flex surrounded by braided steel for protection, it shouldnt leak at all. Not sure what your muffler guy is talking about.

It depends on what type of muffler you are running but some mufflers will pass raspy tones, especially with a set of headers.

The O2 sensor you might be able to bend up a little out of the way. Did you put a new O2 sensor in? That might help a bit too, especially with gas mileage.

Hi Rocketman !

yeah Im gonna change the 02 and put a new one in. Bosch make one for our car, which in the picture actualy looks shorter than the original, so it should work out quite well. (part number 0258002054 or 0258986501)

yeah the muffler sounds fine, the rasp is defintely from the front... I'll leave it be for a month or so, then see what happens. He said he would change it if I wasnt happy.

yeah she's a rare, sohc, I feel like sometimes Im the only one here with the SOHC N/A capri here...LOL...

Have them go through their stock of universal one wire O2 senors and look for a short one. I had one stuck in a 1991 Ford Probe GT downpipe that was extremely short, I have no idea if it was stock and I dont know if you guys got them there.

I'm just saying they do exist, its just a matter of looking around.
