a couple more shots

And there you have it, according to the info the guy I bought the car off of he states that to replace any brake parts on the car, the fronts are; 1989 1/2 Mitubishi Galant VR4 DOHC non-turbo
Backs are 1995 Ford Escort Wagon V22 14 stamping, or maybe the rotors are off of a Mitsubishi and the calipers are off of the escort? His penmen ship leaves a little to be desired!

Front rotors are from the Galant. Pads & calipers are from a 95 Escort. You can see the front calipers are the 14V 22 stampings.

The rear brakes are stock as far as I can tell

No go.
All galants up until 93 are 4 lug and 95 and newer were 5 lug.
All t/e/l's are 5 lug turbo or not.

Front hubs require machining (easiest) or fairly precise hand-grinding for the Galant rotors to fit. The hub gets machined so the hat of the rotor fits over the hub.

You need to take apart the stock hub setup, remove the old brake rotor, drive out the old lug studs & install new longer studs. Its a good time to replace your bearings and seals.

The proper rotors to use are 89.5 Galant rotors - 266mm (10 15/32) Please note there are also 256mm (too small) and 276mm rotors (the 276mm is the VR4 rotor. it requires too much grinding in the caliper throat and wont add any effective braking area)

The caliper needs to be ground out in the throat to clear the edge of the rotor. It does not need much with the 266mm rotors.

The Escort caliper will bolt right to the stock knuckle.

Use this as a general guide: http://323gtx.homestead.com/brakes.html

And heres a comparison pic, stock vs. Galant upgrade

Matt can do his rears with the GTX setup...like this using the same year Galant rear rotors and Miata calipers.
