Well Fellows, You are taking the hard route - here's an alternative I have used many times.
Raise the right side and put on jack stand. Put a jack under the pan with a board for protection, apply lift pressure, remove the right motor mount bolt, raise the engine 1-2 inch max - watch the radiator hoses for tension - don't break the radiator hose neck. Then just unbolt the alternator, it will wiggle between the tie rods - no problem - and out the bottom. Do the reverse to put it back.
I can change one in 45 minutes this way. I know the manual mentions removing the intake and coming out the top back of the engine, but my way is less intrusive. Never had to touch the exhaust!
Big Suggestion - Check on putting on a different pully on the alternator. The pure V pully is prone to squeel even if you tighten the belt to almost breaking point. I'm on my second '93 and when I replace the alternator on this one, I'll put on a modified V with a flat bottom for the belt to ride on instead of the sides. Oh yes, and this will be soon since I can tell the alternator is going bad by starting to squeel with heater and lights on together - especially when cold and/or wet. The alternator is bogging down with a heavy load.
Have fun
