It's all mechanical, so why not? Too long?
-
The 323 guys have talked about it for a long time, I believe one guy was working on it but I never heard if it was completed.
Do you have to import it?
There's a lot better choices of engines IMO than a 30+ year old forgotten diesel engine. Unique for sure

There is one right here in Duluth. Plus i have a spare f trans if it would bolt up...
-
I've seen the RFT-DI (98+ turbo diesel) swapped into a 323 already. The engine only had about 110 hp and 170 ft/lbs of torque, but the guy claimed to be getting 50 mpg.
-
The only reason i would do it, that mpg number. Plus, with it being mechanical fuel injection, it would only take minor modification to add a turbo.
-
The MPG is nice and I'd love that torque, but in a car this small, I'd skip a diesel. There's no space to put heavy stuff that would bog down the stock engine and I live in the flat expanses of the midwest

Whats the redline on it? might be a bit challenging to drive with a normal gasoline engine transmission
