i have a 91 xr2 and it runs great at idle, great at WOT, and great when under regular accel. however if you hold it at a steady rpm, anything over 2000 rpm it runs like crap. i have cleaned all of the connections to ground and all connector terminals. i just rebuilt the engine to specs. it had a few vacuum leaks that i already fixed and that made most of the problem go away. any ideas?

I had a similar problem on my 91 N/A, and it was the distributor.  I replaced it and haven't seen the issue since
