FPR?
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:26:00 AM »

I have been having a rough and low idle in gear, poor city mpg. I thought it might be the fuel pressure regulator so I took the vac line off but there was no gas in it. Does that mean anything or could I still be on the right track?thanks Rocky

If you have a fuel pressure gauge you could read pressure then  remove the vac line on the fpr and pressure should increase. If it stays the same either that vacuum line is junk or the fpr is bad

If no fuel came out, it's likely not the FPR.

What do you mean, low idle in gear? Is it an automatic?

How are your spark plugs? Plug wires? Cap/rotor? All these can contribute to a rough idle.

Vacuum leak could do it to.

How's your spark timing?

Its not an auto, its a 94xr2. I cleaned the plugs, the wires are 3 years old and good. When I put the car in gear the idle drops 200-300 rpm and gets rougher. It also is getting much worse city mpg, highway still seams pretty good. I checked for leaks but I will again. Thanks Rocky

The idle should not change at all when you put it in gear. Your clutch might be dragging, have you adjusted it? Does it give you any problems shifting?

No and No. Would that effect city MPG if the clutch is dragging? or make it run rich?
