So four blocks from home, lucky for me,my turbo went for good! Big smoke. Got it in the garage,no oil pressure,no oil on dip stick. However there was oil dripping from the tail pipe. I assume I would not want to even start it untill I replace the turbo?Rocky

Yes, the oil seals failed in the turbo probably on the exhaust side. Its going to act like a full out high pressure oil leak, I wouldn't drive it until its replaced.

So does anyone have a rebuilt or good used turbo,I would REALLY love a hybrid if I could get one. I have a bov adapter on the way and will install a type rs bov when I get it going. Also gonna keep the boost to 10-12 lbs till I get an after market gauge. I think I was boosting more than 16 when The stock unit said 16! Sorry for not taking Rocketmans advice and spending the time and money on that before oil was dripping out of my 2 1/4 custom exhaust! Thanks Rocky

Won't he need a different manifold to make that work?  It's not just a bolt-on part.........

RCI modified his. You could make a sandwich plate i think to get it to work..he welded it on his.

little work but gains are a lot and i think RCI would contest to that

Thanks but I'm gonna stick to a bolt on. I'm more worried about what damage the thing did when it went and getting it running than I am about making 200 HP right now.So how hard is replacing the stock unit,I have a shop manual. Thanks Rocky.

I pulled the manifold bolts, undid the lines and undo the down pipe and pulled the whole thing out..then removed the turbo from the manifold.

spray a bunch of the bolt loosener of your choice on the night before. took me about 1 hr or so to have it out

The manual says I have to remove the power steering pump and belt to get to the last bolt on the manifold.Any way around that?Rocky.

Nope. PS pump does have to come off. It's not too bad. The hardest thing is the downpipe bolts IMO
