My 1994 XR2 - new pic 5/23/06
« on: March 03, 2006, 07:21:00 AM »

I just bought this last month - $1000! It was a reposession from some kid who had no clue how rare a car he had.

Check out what the joker did to the trunk of this car - i unbolted it before it even left the dealers lot. the kid who washed cars there was happy to get it. there's probably some hyundai crusing the streets w/ that now - lol.

and here's a photochop job of what i hope the car to look like once all restoration is complete:

You dang Californians get all the luck. =P  Awesome find dude, very sweet deal.  I'm trying to find an XR2 around here for a decent price, but it's relatlively slow going.  Keep us updated on the status of the car.

That 94 turbo went for a little more than that - $2200. I drove it from upstate NY to Long Island and it ran great. It's covered up now but in about a month I'll start working on it.  Hopefully there won't be any surprises.  Guess I'll have to sell my 91 NA that I've had so much fun driving the last few years.

Great find, I just bought my 91 xr2 for 1000 also about 2 weeks ago. This is my first Capri, what a fun car, it needs a little love though. I look forward to making mine as nice as some of the cars i have seen on here.

dennis [/b][/QUOTE]good pull then - $2200 was still a very fair price. please post updates (and some pics) of your car, it will be fun comparing your progress to mine down the road.

5/17/06: latest pic of the car... she's getting there

5/23/06: just added cory's clear corner lenses to the front. other than the aftermarket style fit and blemishes, they went on without much drama.

Hey what is up with the mirrors on that car? In the first pics when you got the car they are painted. Then in the later ones they aren't?

when i bought the car the drivers side mirror was toast - the previous owner (aka mr. aluminum wing) solidly mounted the mirror body to the base by drilling woodscrews thru the outer shell. i took them off and threw a set of 91's on. i did buy a replacement but they're currently aquamarine so i'll install the correct 1994 mirrors after the repaint is done.
