Quite the bizarre color combination, but I bet some of you will like it:

At one time there was a fish tank you could see in the trunk.  I have seen this car up for sale a few times over the last couple few years.  I remember the first time it was for sale they were asking $19,000  It was really sharp when it was fresh.

I find the side molding interesting, trying to give the illusion of a widebody kit.  I like this car, the paint would be turned into the Vipers "Snakeskin Green"

ive actually talked to this guy... met him through car domain.. in this country this is what we call major rice...but in australia it would be a show car... about in the same league as the super roo.. a showstopper... in austrailia you must modify everything in your car to be competitive... they over do it a bit .. but you must also remember the capri was a staple car in austrailia... there were and still are alot of them on the road..think honda civic... just like peyapans capris sitting with lotus m100s and what appear to be "real" sportscars... different cultures take to the automotive world in different ways...here, yea we would call you a ricer for driving that... but here your not gonna take your capri out and find you some lotus and ferrari owners to chill at a meet with either...
so, as anthony kedis of the red hot chile peppers once said "life is beautiful arround the world"...
its just different...Joe...

mate, that is a terrible site!,

im a brit that moved to aus last year. and bought a capri as my work car, and i must say RCI, dude you couldnt be more wront, the capri, although made here is pretty damn rare, i read somewhere that over 80 percent of the capris manufactured went to the states, id say there is only 20 or so in my entire state (WA), there is only one in a scapyard, again only one in the state, there are a few na ones around, but ive only seen 3 turbos, and i own one of em, as for auzzie cars in general.

people dont like this car, its small, and not a v8. therefor seen as "gay". people like big 6 litre ugly famly cars here, 80 percent of people drive holden commodores, or forl falcons, in fact the capri is the only turbo car under 2 litre you can get. there are shit loads of supras and imprezas,

coming form europe though, where everything is a a 4 cylinder, and many turbo options, i was seeking something out that wa small and quick, but spares are hard as hell to find, its a pain,

i used to drive a volvo 480 turbo, dont think you guys would have that, it was a wedgy little 80s coupe, i think volvo just released something that resembles it with a c in the title.

but damn i used to love that little rocket, and the capri was the closest i could find, nissan exas are about, but no turbo option.

Hey Fish face (insert visual picture here). ha.  Wow, it must be a shock moving from England to Australia.  Don't you wish they spoke english down there?  I'm sure there were some cultural changes for you, like....Food that actually has flavor!  Or even more freedom.  No Health & Safety folks whining about everything.

Forgive me if this was offensive 2u, I sailed on the HMS Brilliant back in the day for a couple weeks when I was in the USN and partied with the Brits for 7 months all over the world.  (I will forever be scarred, they made me watch "The Young Ones")

im not offended mate,  i dont really dig the sports compact scene here, but they have alot of cool old muscle cars, everything automotive is sooo overpriced though, its a joke, even jap stuff is about 2 x times as expensive as it is britain, as for german stuff, man, a late 90s m3 still fetches $40000 here, same model would be about 7000 at home, sob sob, but hey best beaches in the world, cant argue with that. could be worse.

But in regards to capris, im actually kind of scared of modding mine too much because replacement parts are just not around,

I also am not into the Modding scene.  My motto is, "keep mechanicals stock"  Now I do believe in a bright paintjob, kick butt stereo, upgrade the top and do some interior work.  I think it's because I'm old, and don't need a racecar. Pretty and reliable, just like we would like our women to be.

Sometimes, mods are necessary when you can no longer find original stuff or when you want efficiency or speed.  I have done a number of performance mods on my NA (CAI, header, high flow cat, 2.25" exhaust, etc.), but only to increase efficiency.  My '94 XR2 remains stock original because it is rare, but eventually, I may have to change some things to accomodate shortage.

Having said that, it's good to see people on this site like Russ, Joe, Josh, Jamie, et al, who push this car and motor to the limits.  If no one does it, then the rest of us have no idea where to go to maintain status quo.  It's sort of like the history of auto technology - the companies that build the best cars also race.  Those that don't have a race agenda simply follow those that do in making improvements.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.  As for you Bob, you're eventually gonna get bit in the ass for the "pretty and reliable" comments - but I'll defend you if you need it.

Hey Mark.  I agree, I am glad there are people out there pushing the boundries of Capridom.  If I had the money (cause I don't have the talent) I'd like an AWD Capri, I think thats the coolest thing there is.  (Also I think Matt is an amazing kid, and if I had the money, I'd invest in him.)  But since I am not mechanically inclined, and I can't afford a mechanic, I try to keep it stock, that way it's cheaper to maintain.

As for "Pretty and Reliable" drbob speaks the truth.  ha ha
