Low mileage XR2 warning

Another XR2 on Craigslist asking 2500.00

Obviously well maintained low mileage car with only 63,000 on the ododmeter. Went to see it today.  Great shape inside and out BUT for seat wear AND a badly rusted through floor pan and badly rusted frame! I would be afraid to drive this one any distance.

This is the third XR2 I have looked at in the past week with the same problem. Looks like the rust starts from the inside where the convertible top leaks at the front corners. Carpet stays wet and away goes the rust. Pity. And a great waste of my time as a car with holes in the floor won't pass safety checks required for licensing here in Ontario.

That sucks!

Rust really kills the value of any Capri - it turns a low mileage car into a parts car very quickly.

I guess the seller should have known about the rust and mentioned it in the ad.  Some people simply have no shame or just don't get it.

I have learned that a good flashlight and something to put on the ground to lay on are essential shopping tools.  No matter what the seller advertises.  Four hour round trips for nothing get to be a bit duscouraging.

Rad is a great vehicle inspector!

When i bought my car i did a quick glance underneath, seen nothing out of the ordinary, well Rad came and pointed out a hole in the floor board. I've since pulled the car of craigslist and will keep it. Guess i'll have to wait to get my 93  :(
