Go fast parts ;)
« on: April 06, 2010, 04:59:00 PM »

Ok so now I have everything running 100% so I finally can start with the fun. Being as this is my first turbo car I've owned I have no idea were to really start. My buddy told me a boot controller and to up it 5 psi with a K&n intake and a dump valve. He showed me http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLACK-TURBO-BOOST-CONTROLLER-KIT-RX7-323-MIATA-MAZDA3_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3358a9bb96QQitemZ220530850710QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcc essories

Before I got spending money on things. Whats safe for me to run on my stock car 90k 5 speed. Will 10 psi be fine on it stock? If I'm heading the wrong way please someone let me know and put me on the right track. I'm not looking to spend to much money. Just want something fun, fast, exciting to drive. But keeping the reliability and not having to rebuild it in the next year.

Thanks everyone who has been responding to my posts. I really do appreciate it.

10 psi is about the max you can run right now.

You should be boosting 7-9lbs stock as it is right now.

You can run to 10psi or so with everything else stock. Higher boost you'll need a chip for the ecu (allows up to 16lbs) and a better intake, exhaust, blowoff/bypass valve

We're here to help ya, let us know what you want to do. Keep in mind it won't be cheap, although its a lot cheaper than other cars bang for buck wise.

I was told with the turbo I have I can't switch out the blow off valve?

Also I will probably get ahold of you to get the ecu chipped after I get some cash up. Will my internals hold 16 psi reliable?

The three best bang for the buck mods would be;
1) Chipped ECU
2) Boost Controller
3) 2 1/2" exhaust

In that order. If you get the Boost controller first you won't be able to resist the temptation to turn that Bass Turd up. So start with the ECU. When you do the exhaust drop the cat unless you have to have inspections. Once you get these done you will see the failings of the suspension. That will be the next place to go.

Thanks for the help guys. Could anyone tell me what they think about the boost controller I linked from ebay. It was like 10 bucks. I'll probably get it and put it away till I can get the money for the ecu. The exhaust is new all stock size tho. Going to suck taking it off but the person who owned it did it.

I do have inspections but my father has a few friends who will prob let me slide. Ill ask around to see if I can get some 2 1/2 pipe and just weld somthing up. I do have a glass pack but its for a 3" from my xj lol. I really don't want it ricer loud. I love the fact its so quite no one so far has expected it to be a lil rocket. Tho I did get walked on by a maxima some how lol.

So far my list is

1. Cheap ass boost controller if its fine to use
2. ecu upgrade
3. I'll find pipe for an exhaust.
4. Will probably be a new soft top to be honest

Both hard top and soft leak. Soft top is all broken up and hard top only has 3 good bolts holding it down.

A bleed off BC is a bleed off BC they're spikey little bass turds just start off slow don't go to max boost on day one. You'll also see creep at the top end from the small waste gate be careful of that. You end up taking your eyes off of the boost gauge to pay attention to driving and that's when it gets you. Melted broken crap, it's never fun.

So what would be a good bc to buy?
I read up on boost creep. Sounds like this is going to be a pain. But I'm always up for a challenge lol.

On a side note. My oil pressure is always 1/4 of the way up. Someone told me thats a little low? I know some cars have low pressure. Unlike my xj who always had high pressure.

The oil pressure gauge is just like your temp gauge, crap.

Get a ball & spring boost controller. Tunerfixx sells a good one.

You won't have boost creep until you throw a bigger exhaust on it.

Yeah I had boost creep with an open stock 2" downpipe. Gotta restrict a little.

Porting the wastegate is extremely effective however few people are willing to tear everything apart just to do it

I would like to add: a FMIC!! These cars respond VERY well to a larger front mount intercooler, and I think I saw more HP gains from it, over my 2 1/2" exhaust.

Bigger turbo is a better way to get rid of the creep
