resistor box part 2....(see part 1 first )
« on: August 29, 2009, 04:39:00 PM »

ok once you have bought and made your resistor box from the rad shack parts you bought this is where and wat to do with it...

locate and unplug your injector harness from the main harness (to the right and below the FPR) you will need to unplug the TPS from the throttle bodie, and the knock sensor and any other sensor that comes off that particular section of harness so you can pull it out to unwrap and splice wires within the harness...

take and unwrap the tape that holds the harness together ...starting at the connector that plugs into the injector harness... unwrap about a foot or so to expose the wires running in said harness...once you have what looks to be a shit ton of wires exposed... locate the black with a white stripe wires that go from 4 wires at the connector and merge into 1 wire about a foot down the harness... this would be your injectors individual grounds that merge into a common ground... remember : black with a white stripe...
if you work your way down the harness and they dont merge into 1 wire than you need to unwrap more harness till you find the merge...cut the wires leaving atleast 2 inches of wire from the big connector (gives plenty of wire to strip and gives a little extra incase you fuck up you can cut and strip again...) now go to the bottom to where you found the merge to 1 wire and cut again leaving atleast 2 inches of wire from where you stopped unwraping ... what you cut out should resemble the resistor setup minus the resistors and box ...(just a 4 wire to one wire merge) now replace the cutout section with the resistor box you made... basicly your placing 4 resistors inline before the merge to 1 wire that goes into the harness...

now take and retape the harness back together leaving the resistor box and its harness outside of the tape... depending on how long you made the leads on your resistor harness you can put the resistor box where ever you would like... or you can tape it to the actual harness so it looks like a box on the harness itself...

i hope this was thorough enough for yall... any other questions you may have you can send me a PM or email  or hit me up on facebook at...

uh huh ..for the supra... it fits the rectangle hole perfectly  best flowing adaptor ive found for our cars ...but its a little long and makes it hard to fit in the engine compartment... ive got a bunch of HKS stuff on my capri ...there my favorite.. and if thares an application for our car i try to use them

I've got VAF adapters in the works too, they're built to be a perfect flow transition. No square into round deal. I'll get pictures of the one I made tomorrow, its on the car at the moment.

I was able to cast a set last week...they're not the prettiest...I have a kind of a system worked out but its very time consuming to make them and they don't come out as nice as I know I can get them. I'll have some pics sometime next week when I get them cleaned up and test fitted.

yea it just makes the install easier, if you unhook the sensors connected to that harness, and pull it out into full view...i went kinda extreme but i was trying to illustrate....

I did some reading up on the resistor box on honda-tech and found I could just use a stock DSM resistor pack or one out of a 90-95 prelude or accord.

This was it all looks stock and has built in heat sinks too.

Gotta go to the junkyard and rip one out. Anyone else thinking of going with peak and hold injectors?

you sure can, and it wires in the same way as described here...
i paid 12.00 for everything you need to make mine from the rad shack ...
problem here is that tuning is quite big.. and thares literally hundreds of people doing what we are, and with other cars too. such as hondas
wanting to run low imdediance injectors all the junk yards are stripped of the resistor packs...

or the yards are trying to make money and charge stupid prices for them cuase they know about the demand for them ... so i made mine ... some folks on here are in areas where you can just walk into a yard and yank what you want ... you just cant do that here... or in other places...
so yea your right... you can use a resistor pack from any car that uses peak and hold injectors

as for heat sinks, the one i made has never even gotten warm to the touch before.. so i think there a little overkill... or im using big ceramic resistors.. one of the two.. i actually pulled my box build from a DIY honda forum....

well good luck and happy tuning....Joe

Yards around here would think its a voltage regulator or something thats junk. I am sure I can get one for around $5 or so.

I still appreciate all the info from you bro.

man, lucky ass... here they dismantle, test, catagorize, stock , and overprice everything...
nothing is junk unless its broke and unserviceable.. and they follow trends... your buddy pays 10.00 for something and two weeks later you go in for the same part and the price is 20.00 cuase they see a trend forming and want to profit from it.. mechanics and installers are the same way.. if two people get the same install done. the price will inherantly go up for that service... very money driven... but whats not theese days...thats why DIYers are getting more prominant...

no, i posted the info for everyone.. you still didnt know where to put it in.. or where to look.. or what wires to splice into..and given time you would have figured it out on your own.. but thats why this forum is here... to give us all an advantage of others that have done it already...and were not exactly tuning civics here..theese are very rare cars and alot less has been done in this world as compared to the Honda or DSM world... i see a guy with a 12 second talon or a ls v-tec civic running 12s and im like so what...im even at the point were a single turbo 98 2jz supra that pulls the wheels on its way to a 8.79 1/4 mile dosent impress me
anymore..(ive put a titan motorsports shortblock in a jza80 before)it been done...its like hannah montanas new album ..its fricken overplayed...
its not how fast it is, its how fast it is compared to how fast its supposed to be...

its like i tell all my fox body racin friends...
"if you beat me are you gonna go brag to your friends??? "if i beat you do you think im not!!!"   Nuff said .. be good, and you got any more questions just ask... i know a little about alot, and rocket pretty much can answer anything i cant, so between us and everyone elses trials we can usually figure it out... but if ya aint having fun thare aint no point in doing it...
so like i always say ...Happy tuning...Joe
