my car runs like crap

i have a 92 mercury capri i put a new alt and a new water pump then all of a sudden i wants to stall out and i have new plugs,cap,rotor and wires. i have also cleaned the throttle body so other then that what could it be  :(

Check your timing? Since you changed the water pump, it might be off.

It sounds like the timing belt is off. Double check to make sure it is correct

it is a new timing belt also and i had it at TDC when i did it so i have no clue

Check your timing....


Always go back and look at what work you just did when your car acts up. Especially when the symptoms deal with the exact thing you just replaced....

Did you rotate the engine twice, adjust the belt tensioner, and then check for TDC again? That's part of the timing procedure - the cams/crank do not always stay put when installing the belt.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? if any hoses or piping are allowing air in, the car will want to stall.
