Car has gone down hill
« on: July 05, 2010, 12:16:00 PM »

So for the last few months my car has had a hesitation between 1.5k till turbo spools up then it felt as if the turbo has been making the car go. Bad gas milage lots of sputtering now. Almost complete loss of power now. It seems to be getting worse and worse. It sounds as if my timing is off because at idle the engine shakes and sputters. It also heats up fast when I'm on it. 4-6.5k rpm it heats up so fast and hesitates alot. Smells like its running rich at idle.

Tho is doesn't smoke or ne thing.

I've ran the car really low on gas. And I think maybe its the fuel filter. If not plugs/wires/destrib.

So now I'm waiting on a fuel filter to come in tomorrow. That way I can start from there.

Anyone have ne ideas?

Could it be my timing belt is streched and allowing it to skip?

Have you checked your plugs at all?

Check/replace plugs cap & rotor, inspect wires & replace. Never a bad idea to replace the fuel filter.

So I had to have a distro/rotor/fuel filter special ordered.. Atleast thats what they told me. >.>

Ne ways I'm waiting on it to get in. And sadly my car is as fast as a single jingle 2.0 jetta... Yeah its a sad day. I have absolutely no power.

Still no smoke and oil pressure is still up. Turbo spools and holds 9 psi. Just feels like its running outta gas entire time I'm on it. So hopefully fuel filter fixes it. I get that tomorrow. Distro and rotor should be here in 2 days..

Looks brand new but could be clogged up from sea foam.

So I tested my distrib and its sparking to the plugs great. Replaced the fuel filter. Was plugged up bad. But it still has a miss just not as bad cutting out as it was. So I'm down to 3 things.

Plugs/wires
Injectors
Cat

Everyone I talk to lectures me on why I shouldn't cut the cat out and put in a test pipe.

Any info on it guys? Will it harm ne thing?
Someone said without the back pressure I'll have my valves tapping alot...

Well I just got done punching the cat. The only way it helped was finding out my exhaust comming off my turbo is loose and it won't tighten... So when you get on it and let off it backfires. It seemed to help a little bit for power but it still has a slight hesitation. On my day off I'll end up putting a test pipe on it.

Anyways. Could this be why my car has lost so much power? Just the fact I have a exhaust leak comming off the turbo. It spools up fine. And I noticed I could hear a blow off sound lately.
